Snapchat’s Innovative Journey into Generative AI with "Dreams"
- 25-08-2023
Snapchat, the popular social media platform, is set to take another leap into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) with its upcoming feature known as "Dreams". This follows the success of its AI-powered chatbot, My AI, which now possesses the ability to respond with a Snap instead of only text. The introduction of “Dreams” will see Snapchat delving deeper into AI imagery, possibly featuring users and their friends in various imaginative settings.
Snapchat has been fervently developing features that enable users to upload or take selfies, which the app will then use to generate new images of the users in scenarios of their choice. This information was revealed by app researcher and developer, Steve Moser. This feature mirrors the capabilities of other AI photo apps currently available on the App Store.
A similar app named Remini gained widespread attention last month when TikTok users discovered its ability to transform their selfies into professional-grade headshots suitable for LinkedIn, eliminating the need for a costly professional photo shoot.
Snapchat's bold venture into the realm of generative AI demonstrates the company's commitment to evolve with technology and user demands. As the digital era progresses, the integration of AI into social media platforms is becoming increasingly prevalent, providing a unique and engaging user experience. It remains to be seen how Snapchat users will respond to the “Dreams” feature and how it will impact the landscape of AI-enhanced social media.
