Adventure

A Fresh Take on Familiar Elements

With its distinctive features, a variety of playable characters, and engaging RPG mechanics, Genshin Impact carves out a significant place for itself in the world of action-adventure games.

As a player, you step into the shoes of a "traveler" who lands in the magical realm of Teyvat. The primary mission of recovering your captured twin often takes a backseat as you find yourself engaged in crafting items, collecting fruit, and battling celestial beings. Although the story is marred by cliches and generic anime tropes, you are diverted by quests that range from the mundane to the extraordinary. While such detours are incredibly engaging, they often lead to a loss of focus on the primary objective of finding your sibling, which can be viewed as an area of potential improvement for the storyline.

Genshin Impact’s main attraction is the world of Teyvat itself. Brimming with chests to loot, puzzles to solve, and enemies to battle, the sheer amount of activities sometimes feels overwhelming and adds an element of unpredictability to the gameplay. Each environment in the vast map entices you with multiple quests, challenges, and rewards — thus paving the way for an addictive chain reaction of tasks to keep you engrossed.

Visually, Teyvat is a sight to behold. Despite occasional lapses in world-loading time and over-the-top voice acting, the graphics and memorable background music make the gaming experience truly immersive. The design team has succeeded in creating an expansive world full of breathtaking views that command your attention and appreciation.

The combat system in Genshin Impact promotes using a blend of characters and their unique abilities to maximize damage on opponents. An example demonstrating the power of combining fighters is partnering Xingqui’s water abilities with Fischl’s electrical attack for a devastating effect. Learning to utilize the synergy of characters becomes crucial, especially when the challenges become time-bound or when facing bosses with impressive health bars.

Genshin Impact does have its misses - the meandering storyline, the poorly integrated co-op feature, and the over-reliance on cliches hamper its consistency. However, its stunning graphics, an overabundance of in-game activities, and the strategic combat system decidedly overshadow these flaws.

  • Beautiful world design and captivating music
  • Unified and strategic combat system
  • Large array of unique playable characters.
